A novel idea

Before I actually start writing this post, I want to express my thanks to the lovely girl who used my comment form in the ‘About me’ section of this blog. You are the first to use it and your words genuinely meant the world to me. Writing on the internet opens you up to all kinds of criticism and while I haven’t actually been subjected to ‘internet trolls’, I am aware that it’s a risk I take every time I post on this little blog. So for someone to take time out their life to send me a … Continue reading A novel idea

It seems I fell off the wagon…

The half marathon broke me. Not physically. Physically I recovered in a couple of days. The aches eased, the bruises faded and the chafing (yes, the chafing!) healed. But mentally… mentally I was a bit broken.    For 12 weeks prior to the half marathon that’s all I thought about. Training right, eating right, building muscle, increasing my distance, running up hills, running down them, sprinting, spin classes, weights sessions, injuries. Then, the day came and went and when I woke up on the Monday after and struggled into work I felt kind of free. I didn’t have to … Continue reading It seems I fell off the wagon…

The week before pay day…

As this week has been the week before pay day and I have been incredibly broke. I have Christmas to pay for and a ski trip next year… and you know pints to buy every Friday and Christmas parties to go to and (possibly) buy new clothes for. All the important things, naturally. So here’s a little list about the thoughts I’m sure we all have when we’re counting down the days till pay day. I’m going to cook a huge batch of Bolognese/soup/chilli to live off for the week. Wait, what’s this in the freezer? Is that … Continue reading The week before pay day…

My local area

So, I live in Bristol. I imagine most of you are aware of that, being that most of you are my friends and family… And you’ll also know that I currently reside in the affluent Clifton area. Now, I’m certainly not affluent, but for those who don’t know Clifton, I am surrounded by mansions. Let’s not get too excited, most of them house young professionals in flat shares (I’m still young, right??), some are home to the 8000 students who are lucky enough to live in this area (in flat shares, too), but some of them, not many, are still … Continue reading My local area

Food, glorious food

Here I am again, on my iPad. Thanks Acer for your update… Why not add the ability to ‘skip till a more convenient time’ option in your next one. Anyway, on to the more important stuff. Blog every day in November has asked for ‘Food Glorious Food’ for day three. Food is probably one of my favourite things; its up there with sleeping, they are tied for top spot I reckon. As some of you may know, and I think I mentioned this in my day one post, but I haven’t eaten meat for nearly 10 years. I eat fish, … Continue reading Food, glorious food

What’s (not so) new about me…

Blog every day in November (BEDN)… I didn’t do so well at this when it ran in May. I think I managed to do two posts… I’m not promising I’ll do better this time round, especially considering that I am also attempting NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month, where a participant is challenged to write an entire 50,000 word novel in the month of November) so it’s looking like I’ll be spending a lot of time on my laptop this month. So, today’s BEDN topic is ‘New About Yourself’. Which is interesting, cause I don’t think there is anything new about … Continue reading What’s (not so) new about me…
