I don’t think I know anyone who isn’t an Amazon Prime member. Next day free delivery from the online store that stocks everything from stainless steel straws to novelty socks and everything in between. I guess you could call this … Continue reading The Lines We Leave Behind by Eliza Graham: A review
This book has recently been made into a film, but I didn’t actually know that when I started reading it. My friend told me once I was half way through and now I can remember seeing the trailer and I … Continue reading THE GIRL WITH ALL THE GIFTS: A REVIEW
It took me a whole month to read it, well nearly. 30th April to 25th May, so just short of 28 days to read the tome that is the 720 page A Little Life by Hanya Yanagihara. A book that … Continue reading A Little Life: A review
Who is on Goodreads? I am and I’m doing a reading challenge this year. Goodreads gives you the chance to set yourself a reading target for the year. My self-imposed target is 12 books in 2018. That’s only one a … Continue reading Goodreads reading challenge
My to-read list is longer than most people’s MONTHLY shopping lists, but I’ve narrowed it down to the next five I plan to read. Life After Life – Kate Atkinson A colleague brought in a copy of one of Atkinson’s other books for me to read; A God in Ruins. I read the back and was really excited to read it, but my other colleague said that before I did I should read Life After Life. So, I toddled off to my local library and checked out a copy. As I walked out I opened it and read the … Continue reading My next five reads…
Before I actually start writing this post, I want to express my thanks to the lovely girl who used my comment form in the ‘About me’ section of this blog. You are the first to use it and your words genuinely meant the world to me. Writing on the internet opens you up to all kinds of criticism and while I haven’t actually been subjected to ‘internet trolls’, I am aware that it’s a risk I take every time I post on this little blog. So for someone to take time out their life to send me a … Continue reading A novel idea
I can’t believe I’m writing this on my iPad. Stupid laptop decided to do an update and it’s taking forever. I didn’t want to fall behind on #BEDN so, iPad it is… The topic for day two #BEDN is ‘Love Mondays’. Well, I’m not sure that I do… So I thought I’d share a little about my day, instead of trying to fall in love with Monday! Today I decided to wear my green knitted Primark dress, it’s a size 20 and cost me £1. I do love a bargain and before you ask, no, I’m not a size 20; … Continue reading Love Mondays…
So, as part of my new year’s resolution to read more (see number 4, here), I signed up to a book club. The first book on the list was On Chesil Beach by Ian McEwan. You may be familiar with his novel Atonement, which was adapted for the big screen and brought to life by Keira Knightley and James McAvoy. I downloaded On Chesil Beach straight to my Kindle (yes, I know, but I still read real books too) and curled up on the sofa to start reading. I hadn’t actually read the book description, so I wasn’t quite sure … Continue reading On Chesil Beach by Ian McEwan
