Self care Sunday… #BEDM

So I’ve decided to do the Blog Every Day in May challenge, started and hosted by Elizabeth over at Rosalilium. I know, it’s the 3rd of May and I have missed the first two days already. Oh well, better late than never! So, Elizabeth has given a blog ‘prompt’ for every day of this month, but if you want to take part then you don’t have to follow the prompts. You can write about whatever it is you want, the point is just to blog every day. It’s not a competition, there are no prizes, you won’t be reprimanded if … Continue reading Self care Sunday… #BEDM

So I have a confession…

So, I’m quite vocal on here (and other social media sites!) about my love of exercising. But I have a secret. I’m actually incredibly lazy. Yup, that’s right, I love nothing more than spending a full day in bed, on my own, watching Netflix. The thought of getting up and doing… well, anything… urgh. I mean, I work really hard in my job, I exercise 4ish times a week and I spend time with friends (most of that time in the pub). So here’s a list of this lazy girls daily battles… Snoozing my alarm AGAIN in the mornings telling … Continue reading So I have a confession…

So, I’m angry.

I’ve been quiet on here for a while. I decided to give myself Easter weekend off. I was off work, I had four glorious days of nothing and I didn’t want to be sat in front of a computer screen when I wasn’t being paid for it. This blog is my little hobby, I guess. I enjoy writing and I’ve found that it’s a nice way to track my training progress, to inspire me to do new things so that I can tell you about them, to read more (a book a month, at least!) and to share stories and … Continue reading So, I’m angry.

30 and STILL single…

So, I’m 30 and single. I would like to have kids one day, but what if my time is running out? It’s not easy to date as a 30 year old. As research for this post (honest!) I googled ‘dating in your 30s top tips’ and I found lots of help – most of it wasn’t useful; it was aimed at women who were balancing a career, children and dating. Well, I don’t have the kids yet, that’s why I’m googling this! I was even more depressed by this point that I decided I needed to meet a man. … Continue reading 30 and STILL single…

Dear 13 year old me…

Dear 13 year old me, So, you’re about to embark on your teenage years, they’ll be tough, there will be changes, you’ll have your heart broken, you’ll make life changing decisions, but you’ll also have a lot of fun and make friends that will still be with you when you’re 30. Purple satin shirts and patchwork jeans aren’t a good look. Neither is blue eyeliner and/or mascara. Don’t do it. You’re parents do understand you, they were teenagers once too. Stop fighting them so hard and just talk to them. And stop leaving them letters at the top of the … Continue reading Dear 13 year old me…

New York, New York…

So I may have been a bit quiet on the blog front for a while. The reason? Well, I turned 30. I know, I barely look 21, but it’s true. Turning 30 involved throwing a party in Bristol (I came home to pictures of me displayed on the wall in the shape of a ‘30’ courtesy of my flatmate Lizzie; she asked me for another special mention on this blog. So here you go Lizzie, there’s even a picture of you down there), travelling up the Scotland to spend the big day with my family and my girls and finally … Continue reading New York, New York…

So, naked people…

I bet that title got your attention! Let me explain; on Thursday night I attended a life drawing class and I have to say, it was one of the most surreal two hours of my life. I had been looking for some kind of creative outlet for a while. I always describe myself as a creative, but recently I haven’t done much to earn that title. So when my friend told me about this life drawing class that she used to attend, I decided to look it up. I’ve never done it before and when I told my mum about … Continue reading So, naked people…

On again, off again, on again…

My on/off affair with running started about 5 years ago. I can’t really remember the reason I put my trainers on that first day and attempted to ‘pound the streets’! It might have had something to do with my mum, she took up running when I was already an adult and ran the Edinburgh Marathon in her late 40s (trying not to give away your age here, Mum!). There was no denying that she was fitter than me and I was half her age! That first run was painful. Oh so painful. I remember taking money for the bus in … Continue reading On again, off again, on again…
